Nine Northern Virginia Practices Return to Independent Ownership Under Fairfax Family Practice Centers

Longstanding physician-led group deepens commitment to patient-centered care through community-focused partnership with Trustar Bank

FAIRFAX, Va. (December 17, 2025) – Fairfax Family Practice Centers (FFPC), a trusted name in Northern Virginia healthcare for over half a century, proudly announces the return of nine primary care practices to independent, provider-led ownership. This pivotal transition was made possible through a strategic partnership with Trustar Bank, a full-service commercial bank headquartered in Northern Virginia, who played an instrumental role in enabling the practices to reclaim independent operations. Together, FFPC and Trustar Bank have helped ensure that these longstanding community anchors can continue to deliver personalized, patient-focused care rooted in the neighborhoods they serve.

The move re-establishes autonomy for practices that have served as healthcare providers in their neighborhoods, many of which were founded by the same trusted physicians that patients continue to see today. Now under independent ownership, these practices are poised to enhance their responsiveness to the unique needs of the communities they serve, while providing the same exceptional care their patients have come to expect.

The participating practices include:

  • Broadlands Family Practice – Ashburn
  • Broadlands Family Practice – Brambleton
  • Family Medicine of Clifton/Centreville
  • Herndon Family Medicine
  • Lorton Station Family Medicine
  • Prince William Family Medicine – Manassas
  • Stone Springs Family Medicine in Dulles
  • Town Center Family Medicine in Reston
  • Vienna Family Medicine

“In returning to independent ownership, we are reaffirming a commitment to our patients and our values,” said Dr. David Lee, FFPC Board President and partner at Lorton Station Family Medicine. ” Our partnership with Trustar Bank empowered us to take this step with confidence, returning decision-making to the practice level and strengthening our ability to serve patients with compassion, trust and local connection. It’s not just a business initiative; it’s a resurgence of our mission to deliver care rooted in compassion, trust and local connection.”

“This collaboration was about more than financing—it was about sustaining the fabric of Northern Virginia’s healthcare system,” said Shaza Andersen, CEO of Trustar Bank. “These physicians and practices have been pillars in their communities for decades. Supporting their return to independent ownership means enabling more customized care, deeper local engagement and healthcare that reflects the needs of the people who live here.”

For patients, this milestone translates to enhanced accessibility, a renewed focus on innovation and an even stronger level of personalized care. Patients will experience seamless continuity, retaining access to the same providers, locations, services and the MyChart portal for scheduling and records. The change also emphasizes collaboration among providers and team members, fostering a strengthened culture of care that benefits everyone.

“This transition is about putting patients first – listening to their needs and focusing on quality and respect,” said Dr. Mike Rodriguez, physician and co-founder of Broadlands Family Practice – Brambleton. “Independence gives us the ability to grow in ways that best serve our communities, while remaining steadfastly committed to the relationships and trust we’ve built over decades.”

As part of this transition, FFPC has established agreements with most major insurance carriers, including Aetna, Anthem, CareFirst, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, Sentara, Medicare and Tricare/Humana Military. Some carriers may still temporarily reflect FFPC as out-of-network or show delayed effective dates. Patients are encouraged to visit ffpcs.com/insurance for the most current information or contact their practice directly with questions.

For more than 50 years, FFPC has been a leading voice in Northern Virginia’s healthcare landscape, delivering high-quality, patient-centered services across diverse communities. This return to independent ownership reinforces FFPC’s legacy of prioritizing care that is both innovative and grounded in the neighborhoods it serves. With this renewed focus, FFPC remains dedicated to setting the standard for primary care in the region.
