Laboratory services
Most laboratory blood draws and specimen collections can be performed during your appointment. Our lab drawing and processing is exclusively for our own patients. To ensure accuracy, we are unable to process orders written by other doctors for laboratory services or blood draws. We thank you for your understanding.

Dr. Rachel Bak is a primary care physician board certified in family medicine. She has been practicing since 2017.
Dr. Bak has lived in Northern Virginia following her graduation from the George Washington School of Medicine. In her free time, Dr. Bak enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter, cooking, going on walks, and participating in church activities.

Before becoming a family nurse practitioner, Michelle Hewlett worked as a registered nurse in labor, delivery, and recovery at Inova Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, VA.
Michelle’s clinical areas of interest include women’s health and mental health. She enjoys working with adults and adolescents. Her patient care philosophy is to provide holistic, patient-centered, and evidence-based care for her patients and her patient care goal is to work with and empower her patients to make informed and personalized health care decisions.
Outside the office, Michelle enjoys running, going to the beach, and spending quality time with her husband and children.

Dr. Monica Hwang is a primary care physician board certified in family medicine.
Dr. Hwang is a native Virginian, born in the Shenandoah Valley. She attended undergraduate school at University of Virginia, attended medical school at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine, and trained in Midlothian, before moving up to live in Northern Virginia.
She is happily married and has one child and a Maltese puppy. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family, cooking/baking, and crafting anything that looks interesting on Pinterest.

In his free time, Dr. Lee works with high school students at McLean Bible Church and volunteers to provide medical care to the underserved in Southwest Virginia. He is also an avid fan of the Washington Football Team, Nationals and Capitals.

Prior to joining Herndon Family Medicine, Dr. Wong traveled around the United States as Locum Tenen, providing medical care at underserved health centers in areas such as rural Virginia, Colorado, Arizona, Hawaii, and the state of Washington.
Outside of work, he enjoys traveling and cooking. Originally from Hong Kong, he also speaks Cantonese Chinese.

Gwen Chu is a licensed physical therapist and has been practicing since 2007.
Gwen received her master’s in physical therapy from George Washington University in Washington, DC, in 2007 and shortly after received her doctorate in physical therapy from Boston University. Gwen specializes in general outpatient orthopedics and is certified in manual therapy, functional dry needling and the Graston Technique.
Gwen believes in treating the patient as a whole by focusing on the root cause of the dysfunction, rather than just the symptoms, to yield long-lasting results. Gwen continues to pursue continuing education and advanced certifications to provide the best evidence-based practice.
Andrew Pho is a licensed physical therapist and has been practicing since 2013.
Since joining Herndon Family Medicine in 2013, Andrew Pho continues to assist and facilitate patients to reach their maximum rehabilitation potential, through evidence-based medicine and compassionate care. He believes in integrating manual therapy with therapeutic exercise and activities.
Andrew graduated from George Mason University with a BS in Biology and received his Doctorate in Physical Therapy at New York Medical College. Andrew is certified in Fascial Movement taping and Level 1 Functional Dry Needling.
Taso Sakkas is a licensed physical therapy assistant.
Taso has a passion for treating patients and achieving clinical excellence. His clinical expertise and interests include spine and sports rehabilitation where he incorporates his passion for fitness with physical therapy. Taso is also certified in Sportsmetrics, an ACL Injury Prevention Program.
